Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. I’ve selected my picks for today’s Top Ten Tuesday based on fictional book characters.
1. Katsa from Graceling. She has the gift of survival so she would come in very handy.
2. Gale from The Hunger Games – once he’s over Katniss, of course. He’s a survivor, a loyal friend and I feel he would provide some great company. *winks*
3 & 4. Zuzanna and Mik from Daughter of Smoke and Bone. These two make such a sweet couple and always make the best out of a bad situation. Mik would have rescued his violin of course so together they could provide some much needed entertainment. The very cool fan art below is from Elaku Dark.
5. Aragorn (Strider) from The Lord of the Rings. As a ranger, Aragon knows how to survive in the wilds.
6. Sammy from Life in Outer Space. Yes, he would probably be useless at the whole wilderness survival thing but very few characters make me laugh like he did.
7 & 8 Jamie and Claire Fraser from the Outlander series. It wouldn’t be fair on them to split them up and they make such a great team. Claire’s medical skills would be a huge benefit to the group.
9. Will Parry from The Subtle Knife. Despite being only 12 years of age, Will showed great strength of character. Plus it wouldn’t be a bad idea to have that knife around.
10. Hermione Granger because she’s Hermione Granger. And if things become too dull on the island she can apparate us out of there!
I have Hermione and Aragorn on my list, too (let’s face it, if you get stranded on an island a magician and a hunter are definitely needed) the others are great picks as well. I had forgotten about Katsa and her gift, she would definitely have been useful.

They would be much more useful than me that’s for sure!

Aragorn is a good choice, he is not bad to look at either 😉

I also had Katsa on my list. The Graceling series is one of my favorites. And I could never get through the Lord of the Rings series in print (I’ve used the film a few times to teach symbol and archetype and that’s fun). Great list.

The Graceling series is one of my favourites, too! I admit, I never finished TLOTR either. I’d like to say that I’ll try again one day but I probably won’t.

Aragorn seems to be a popular pick. I’m glad to see Will made your list too. I wasn’t sure about including a child but he is wise beyond his years.

Brilliant picks! I didn’t even think of Aragorn but he would be AMAZING! He would be especially nice to look at as well. Hermione also made my list, she’s smart and she also knows a lot of useful magic. Here’s my TTT.

Thank you. 🙂 It was fun to imagine the dynamics of the group just hanging out on the island.

Aragorn is a wonderful choice and definitely well adept at living outdoors. I think I’d argue the value of usefulness if they’re (Sammy) is a ball of positivity. I think I would consider a ragtag team of positive people than mopey individuals!
Cheers,

I agree. It’s usually the strong people who are voted out of Survivor first. I didn’t want to pick all alpha personalities as that would probably increase an already tense situation.

Aragorn would be lovely to have around… for so many reasons! Hermione is quite a useful pick, and you’d never get bored with her for company. So sweet that you wouldn’t break up Claire and Jamie! They’ve been through enough… and I get the feeling that even a deserted island wouldn’t faze them, so long as they’re together!
